CTWOO was on the ground doing what we do best — 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿!
In a powerful community forum with over 200 widows, we held 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗜𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗗 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪:
𝟭. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 — Article 40 & 60 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 protects you. No one can chase you from your matrimonial home!
𝟮. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗚𝗕𝗩 — Widow cleansing, disinheritance, eviction, and degrading rituals are illegal.
𝟯. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 — You can report, get free legal aid, and be heard. CTWOO paralegals are here to walk with you.
𝟰. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 — Through Fanikisha Mjane, Thamini Mjane Loans and our Widows SACCO.
The Widowed Persons Protection Bill 2026 will make these rights not just words on paper, but 𝗟𝗔𝗪.
𝗔 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥
We celebrate and congratulate our Founder and Executive Director, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗶𝗸𝘂 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲, 𝗛𝗦𝗖, a survivor of Gender Based Violence that led to her widowhood, who turned her pain into purpose.
For 13 years, she has stood with widows in all 47 counties — from a support group under a tree to 𝟭𝟭𝟰,𝟴𝟬𝟳 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 and 𝟰.𝟭𝗠 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱.
Her widowhood has now birthed a legislation that will create lasting change for generations.
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗵, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 — 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀!
