DAY 26 | WHEN “JUST PRAY” ISN’T THE WHOLE ANSWER 💜

Faith can be a powerful source of comfort.

For many people, prayer provides strength and hope during difficult times.

But when someone is experiencing serious emotional distress, saying:

“Just pray about it.”

may not be enough.

The person may need someone to listen.

They may need practical support.

They may need professional mental health care.

They may need immediate help to remain safe.

Supporting someone does not mean choosing between faith and professional care.

We can pray with them and encourage them to seek appropriate help.

We can respect their beliefs while also taking their emotional pain seriously.

Seeking professional support is not a sign that someone has failed in their faith.

Sometimes, helping someone means recognising that their needs are bigger than what one conversation, one prayer or one person can provide.

Changing the narrative on suicide means creating spaces where people can talk honestly about their pain without being told that faith alone should make it disappear.

💜 Prayer can be part of support. It doesn’t have to be the only support.
