How Digital Tools Turned My Survival into a Platform for Change

When you leave an abusive relationship, restarting your life feels like starting from absolute zero. I was trying to figure out how to keep my children safe, earn a living, and heal..all at the same time. In those quiet, overwhelming moments, technology became my lifeline. A phone and an internet connection gave me a doorway to a fresh start.
First, digital tools gave me a way to earn a living on my own terms. Through my Etsy and Vinted shops, I built an online business right from my living room. When you're a single mom healing from trauma, traditional work hours aren't always an option. Selling online meant I could support my family while staying at home.

As I began to heal, I felt a deep pull to turn my experience into something useful for others. Using digital publishing tools, I wrote and published my book, Unshakable—a guide and workbook to help women regain their confidence, organize their lives, and take back control of their finances. I also created The Sisterhood Palette, an empowering coloring book designed to give women a gentle, creative outlet for stress relief and self-love. Digital tools allowed me to create these resources independently and share them directly with women who need that extra boost of strength.

Eventually, I felt ready to speak out even more openly. I launched Single Motherhood Unfiltered, sharing the honest reality of rebuilding after a crisis. But it quickly became so much more than just my personal journey—I turned it into an educational platform to inform and raise awareness. I use my episodes to talk openly about critical topics like abuse, ADHD, mental health, and women's wellness. Social media is full of picture-perfect moments, but I wanted to build a space that offers real knowledge, breaks taboos, and gives other women the language and information they need to advocate for themselves and their families.
To take this work even deeper into the community, I created Donne del Futuro within our local comunità (DV shelter), bringing us together (women in the shelter) and survivors from other community spaces as well. As we enter our third year together, I am expanding our reach. I am currently planning a new course program to introduce these women to technology—teaching them how digital tools and digital products can open up real opportunities for financial independence, safety, and self-reliance.

To me, technology in a woman's hands isn't just about devices or apps—it's about freedom, education, and community. It gave me the power to pick up the pieces, build an independent life for my children, and give other women the tools and hope to know they are not alone and that their story isn't over yet.
