I’m For the third time, our cultural heritage is being stolen in broad daylight. The famous luxury brand Louis Vuitton has once again taken a piece of our identity without giving any credit, recognition, or respect to the Kurdish people.
In their latest collection, this company went as far as stealing a traditional jacket design that belongs directly to Kurdish culture—the iconic Faranji (or Kollabal). In our homeland, especially in rural and mountainous areas, village residents have crafted and worn the Faranji for centuries to endure harsh mountain weather. It is a unique, handmade woolen garment with broad, raised shoulder horns that embodies our deep roots and mountain heritage. Yet, Louis Vuitton simply took this exact design, rebranded it as a "modern high-fashion concept," and presented it to the world as their own creation.
Our land was taken, and now our culture is being stolen too. Culture is not a trend for multi-billion-dollar corporations to exploit for profit. Erasing the Kurdish identity behind such an iconic garment is unacceptable. It is time for global brands to stop stealing living traditions and give credit to the people who preserved them for generations.

If you believe in cultural rights and justice for marginalized communities, I would truly appreciate it if you share this story on your pages and platforms to help our voice reach the world.
Long live Kurds, long live Kurdistan!
